Our Story

Pain. Pure and simple. I'm a contractor, and I invented this system because I was tired of getting inaccurate handwritten timecards week after week.  It was also getting more and more difficult to manage my bids without accurate costs broken down by each job and activity. 

So I invented The JobClock System.

It's easy to use for everyone involved - owners, foremen, bookkeepers, and workers - because I understand the problems of the contracting trades. 

The JobClock System is also powerful enough to give you the information you need to effectively run your jobsites, and pay your workers.

Steve Simmonds - FounderIn 1999, I was the president of a growing, successful construction business in California.  Despite my success, however, I found myself getting more and more frustrated with each payroll.  The time reported for my workers each payroll just didn't look right. 

As you probably know, payroll is the single biggest expense for most contracting companies - and it's also the most difficult to account for and track.

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate my workers, they do a great job, but the handwritten timecards that they turned each Friday just didn't look right.  Filled with inaccuracies, difficult to read (and sometimes not even turned in!) - it was frustrating to have to total these up and write paychecks each and every week.

So I tried to find a solution out there that I could buy that would put an end to my headache.  One problem...there just wasn't anything out there that fit my needs.

Solving this problem became my mission.

During 1999 and 2000, I starting designing a timekeeping system that would be perfect for the contracting trades.  I knew it had to be durable, reliable, weatherproof, portable and, above all -- easy-to-use!

I sold my first system in 2000, and the word-of-mouth spread quickly.  In a few short months, I was having trouble keeping my shelves stocked.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Eight years later, I'm proud that the JobClock & PocketClock have received numerous awards, such as:
